Basic Abseiling Instructor Assessment
This is a one day assessment. The venue for assessment is flexible (Hobart, Launceston, Freycinet). Candidates are required to run 2 half day abseiling sessions. At each session they will be required to rig at least two different abseils. Candidates will use these set ups to run abseiling sessions with 3-5 clients. Basic rescues (assisted raise, lower off) are assessed.

Assessment cost is $262 for one days assessment.
To apply for assessment:
1. Enrol through Drysdale Institute, Tasmanian Polytechnic (TP) with whom the TCIA has a partnership. TP provides insurance and issues statements of attainment aligned with the National Training Package upon successful completion of the assessment. To enrol through TP contact Jeanette Cross during business hours on 03 62338720. jeanette.cross@polytechnic.tas.edu.au She will then post an information package.
2. Candidates are also required to formerly apply to the TCIA in order to prove their suitability for assessment. Please complete the application form and post it along with a copy of your log and $65 TCIA membership to the TCIA secretary at least 1 month prior to assessment.

who will be used for assessment. These clients are required to pay
$16.60 (conc. $5.55) each which covers their insurance for the day.
