Top Rope Abseiling Instructor Training

This is a two day course offered at Freycinet. The course content includes a basic outline of all technical content required to pass the Top Rope Abseiling Qualification. The TCIA highly recommends attending one of these training courses prior to assessment. Instructor to participant ratio is usually no greater than 1 to 5.

Material covered includes:

Placing and evaluating artificial protection (nuts, camming devices etc)
Building anchors
Rigging top ropes and abseiling anchors
Performing basic rescues
Group management, safety, briefing and environmental issues

Course Information

Course cost is $235 for two days instruction which includes a course manual (CD).

Due to the technical nature of these courses a prerequisite level of knowledge is required. This includes:

Ability to tie a range of knots and hitches (figure 8, figure 8 on the bight, clove hitch, tape knot, friction hitch, fishermans, bowline).
Basic knowledge of rigging anchor points

Enrol through Drysdale Institute, Tasmanian Polytechnic (TP) with whom the TCIA has a partnership. TP provides insurance and issues statements of attainment aligned with the National Training Package upon successful completion of the assessment.
